Turn on notifications in Settings and a new direct message reaches you with a sound and a red count on the MyFri app icon, even when MyFri is closed. It works best on your phone once you add MyFri to your home screen. It is fully your choice: opt in per device, turn it off any time, and like everything here it never touches anyone karma, standing, or reach.
